Intern Job Title: Student Spiritual Life Intern

Internship Supervisor Name and Title:  John Kaehr,

Position Purpose: To cultivate a vibrant and active spiritual culture among Bethel students through serving in the following roles.

Roles:

Spiritual Life Committee – member

                Meet with campus ministry directors and administration for updates and coming events

                Evaluate “fruitfulness” of campus ministries and assist when necessary

                Develop budget for campus ministries

                Organize and assist new need-based student spiritual groups on campus

Student Spiritual Life Teamteam facilitator

                Prayerfully raise up new team members each year

                Establish meeting time each semester conducive to the majority of schedules

                Brainstorm, plan, and facilitate campus-wide spiritual life events and initiatives

Peer Mentoringco-leader (with staff Spiritual Life advisor)

                Foster an environment on campus that welcomes peer-mentoring

                Plan and facilitate regularly scheduled training sessions for current peer-mentors

                Keep open communication with mentors to offer assistance and encouragement

 Resident Life – adviser, liaison, researcher

                Facilitate informational meeting with Resident Life staff during school orientation

                Meet with RA/RD groups at least once per semester

                Provide Resident Assistants connection to spiritual growth resources

 Student Council – Spiritual Life Chair

                Attend meetings to update council on Spiritual Life events/initiatives

                Encourage other council members to see their leadership role as spiritual in nature

                Attend special events and serve as devotional leader as needed

                Be available to any student on campus with an idea for a new spiritual life initiative

 Vespers –  coordinator

                Oversee and lead Vespers programming

                Schedule speakers for each Wednesday night service for both Fall and Spring Semesters

                Develop student worship team(s) and schedule  a rotation throughout the year

                Promote  Vespers schedule with student body via  announcements and social media

Range of hours per week:

Intern is to work 10 to 12 hours per week for 14 weeks with specific schedule and hours to be coordinated with internship supervisor.  Internship will commence the week of August 26, 2019 and conclude on April 24, 2020.

 BETHEL COLLEGE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

The Bethel College Intern Program is an initiative designed to provide traditional students with practical knowledge through meaningful work experiences. Students participating in these internships will perform research, tasks and projects that complement course work with their majors. Students will participate in two career development workshops, two diversity and inclusion workshops, and a resume coaching session during their first semester in order to continue with the program during their second semester. Employers prefer to see internships on a résumé and desire the skills gained from these experiences. Internships are available within participating Bethel College Departments..

 What is an Internship?

An internship is a mentored work experience with an educational focus tied to the student’s course work within their major. Typically, an internship is available for one or two semesters. They range from 10-12 hours per week for 14 weeks per semester for a maximum of 150 hours. Students must be registered for an internship course in their major to participate. The Bethel College Internship Program is a paid student worker program.

Student Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for an internship you must meet the following requirements:

  1. Full-time traditional student in good standing
  2. Student must be registered for an internship course within their major
  3. Minimum of 2.5 cumulative GPA and not on academic probation
  4. Declared major related to the internship
  5. May be required to possess specific competencies or skills to qualify for internship
  6. Must submit cover letter and resume along with application form
